Princess of the little people
"What is this man doing in my pocket?" She asks herself after waking up from a deep sleep.
"When did I put him there? How long have I kept him? What time did he last eat?" Multiple questions were running through my head while starring at the little man, that seemed perfectly content in my pocket.
"Loooocket" mother shouted from the bottom floor. "Wash up, breakfast will be served shortly!"
Quickly I took the tiny man out of my pocket and placed him on the dresser while I washed up for the day.
"Where should you go while I am not present?" I thought "it would be impossible for me to take you with me, mother would be mortified!!"
And that she would. Locket had been found in the gardens shortly after birth. In a basket padded with sheeps wool on top of the Bed of lily's
Attached to the basket was a note and a chasity belt :
"We thank you for finding this little girl. We named her Locket. Please take good care of her and protect her with your heart. When the first rose bloom here in this lily bed, have her wear the chasity belt and hide the key until the day comes where you will be asked to return it to the rightful owner.
With love, the little people"
Mother had never been able to have children of her own, lost her husband years prior, due to sickness and right before she had eternally given up, she found Locket.
The little girl had been her saving grace. And due to this, she raised her as her very own, obeying what the Little people had asked of her. When the day came that a rose had bloomed in the garden, she placed the belt on Locket and hid the key in the safest place she knew.
What she was never to expect, is that the day she would give the key back, just like the Little people had mentioned, was soon to come.
"Here you shall be safe" Locket voiced as she picked up the little man, that had not said a word up until this point, placing him in her doll house.
"I'll bring back a bite to eat for you soon." And she rushes down to the diner to greet her mother.
The two ladies enjoyed their first meal of the day together, chatting about what chores needed to be done. Briefly after they finished, Locket brought the plates and silverware back into the kitchen, grabbing some scraps of food, she hid under her apron and swiftly went back up to her room where the little man had been waiting patiently.
"Thank you," he said "very kind of you."
"You can speak after all! " Locket replied with an astonishing look in her face and added on,
"Do you have a name? What are doing here? And why were you in my pocket?"
After finishing off every bit Locket had brought him to eat, the little man explained:" My name is Eros. I come from the forest, where we found you two decades and a half ago and brought you here to be raised by the chosen crone that would protect and care for you as her very own until the time comes to return a special key to the rightful owner." the little man pauses and continues to ask ,"Have you lived good life so far? "
"Yes. It's been wonderful. Mother loves me and I love her." Locket softly answers.
"No need to be sad Locket," Eros continues " everything will be fabulous ! The day has finally come. I'm here to give you and your mother the riches you deserve. The prince of a thousand kingdoms is on his way to ask for your hand in marriage and take you, accompanied by your mother, back to the kingdom with him to making you his queen! "
Locket overwhelmed with happiness runs down to announce to news , followed by the two women embracing each other and bursting into tears of joy.
"The day has come, my beautiful daughter." mother sobs "I raised you well. You shall make a beautiful queen!"
The next day the prince arrived in his carriage, asking mother for the key and Locket for her hand in marriage.
The couple were wed the following day, accompanied by mother and the forests' little people.
And they lived happily ever after.
